LMS SCORM Expert/Consultant Teamwork Commerce - Remote Apply Now **Role is remote based out of USA Description *Contract Length: 3-6 Months* We are seeking a highly skilled LMS / SCORM Expert Consultant to help us design, build, and future-proof our custom learning platform. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, standards knowledge (SCORM, xAPI, cmi5, LTI), and product strategy insight. The consultant will work closely with our development team and product leadership to architect a robust SCORM player, advise on emerging standards, and guide best practices in LMS product design and implementation. Key Responsibilities SCORM Player Development Lead the design and implementation of a SCORM-compliant content player from the ground up. Provide detailed technical guidance to our developers on SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, and sequencing. Standards & Future-Proofing Advice on adoption of emerging standards (xAPI, cmi5, LTI). Build a roadmap for extending beyond SCORM to more modern and scalable solutions. Ensure the platform is compliant with industry standards and remains adaptable. Technical Guidance Serve as the primary subject matter expert on learning standards.. Review and optimize system design, data flows, and storage related to learning content. Provide code-level input where needed and oversee SCORM implementation quality. Strategic Product Advisory Advise product leadership on best practices for LMS product design, user experience, and scalability. Recommend common solutions and proven approaches used in successful LMS ecosystems. Knowledge Transfer Mentor and train internal developers to build competency in SCORM/xAPI. Deliver clear documentation, best practices, and repeatable processes. Enable the internal team to maintain and evolve the SCORM player independently. Keep current on company physical and cyber security policies and procedures (including privacy), apply them, and report anything unusual to IT Security and Office Management Qualifications Required Qualifications Proven track record of building or integrating SCORM players (not just using off-the-shelf). Deep understanding of SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, and sequencing rules. Hands-on expertise with xAPI, cmi5, and LTI standards. Strong background in LMS architecture, content packaging, and runtime APIs. Familiarity with front-end and back-end development (e.g., JavaScript, React, Node.js, Java, or .NET). Strong communication skills: able to translate technical complexity into clear business/product terms. Experience advising on product design, UX, and scalability best practices.
